Biography

I started to play the drums at the age of six and began to play professionally at the age of sixteen when I joined the cult R&B group Rent Party which gave me my initial experience of touring, radio and T.V work including a live performance on 'The Russell Harty Show'. After some time I decided to explore other areas of music, particularly Funk and Jazz.

I joined the 'James Taylor Quartet' in 1992 with whom I  recorded and toured worldwide until April 2007. I gained a great deal of experience in many aspects of the music industry with the band including the making of fifteen commercial albums, four library albums for Bruton Music and BMG, many radio sessions including live on Radio One and Two and also various TV appearances which included a complete series of channel 4's 'The Gaby Roslin Show', as the house band, backing various artists including Ian Dury, Squeeze, Tony Hadley, Cybil Sheppard and Ricky Ross of Deacon Blue.

Other artists I have also performed with include Tom Jones, The Sugababes, Roy Ayers, Natasha Hamilton, Jamelia, Mica Paris, Omar and Javine.

During my time with JTQ l also did live and recording sessions with Imagination, Snowboy and the Latin Section and recorded various library albums for Vinylizor Music Productions. I also recorded and performed with 'The Sound Stylistics' and have continued to do so since leaving JTQ. One of the pieces I have recorded with them is the theme tune to 'The Paul O'Grady Show' and we recently played at the Blue note club in Tokyo.

My own projects have included the release of a play-along CD called 'Groove Challenge' and I have co-written soundtracks to the BBC series' 'The Trench' and Heroes and Villains', 'Royal wives at war' and 'The lost treasures of Egypt'.

I have also, since 2007, been composing pieces for the Trinity college London graded syllabus including 10 pieces for the latest one which includes my popular grade 8 tune called 'Odd one out'.

Since leaving JTQ I co formed a funk band with other ex JTQ members Gary Crockett, John Willmott and Snowboy called 'The Perceptions' and released an album  called 'Introducing the Perceptions' available on Freestyle records.

I joined the Marty Wilde band in February 2011 and regularly play theatre shows across the country with them.

I am Endorsed by Zildjian cymbals and Premier drums and have performed many clinics for them around the UK. I have also been a contributor for Rhythm magazine as part of their 'Featured Artist' series. I also regularly record for Universal Music for their library music sessions.
